Mountainbike Bundesliga Albstadt – FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team mit fünf Athleten am Start

Die Crème de la crème des Mountainbikesports startet am Sonntag bei der GONSO Albstadt-MTB-Classic auf der schwäbischen Alb. Dabei geht es beim dritten Bundesligarennen der Saison vor allem um wichtige Weltranglistenpunkte, schließlich ist Albstadt eines von insgesamt nur drei HC-Rennen, der höchsten UCI-Kategorie nach dem Weltcup. Das FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team ist mit fünf Athleten vor Ort, die wie schon in Münsingen und Heubach ums Podest mitfahren wollen.

Klemencic will ersten Sieg
Die größten Hoffnungen des Teams ruhen in Albstadt auf Blaza Klemencic (SLO). Mit Platz zwei in Münsingen, Platz sieben in Heubach und den starken Leistungen bei den zurückliegenden Weltcups hat Klemencic zuletzt eindrucksvoll unter Beweis gestellt, dass sie reif für den ersten Saisonsieg ist. „Ich fühle mich sehr gut. Wenn es mir gelingt meine Kräfte optimal einzuteilen kann ich sicher ein Wörtchen um den Sieg mitreden“, gibt sich die 30-jährige Slowenin optimistisch. Doch mit Olympiasiegerin Sabine Spitz (GER), Gesamtweltcupgewinnerin Lisi Osl (AUT) und der frisch gebackenen Trans Germany Siegerin Elisabeth Brandau (GER) ist die Konkurrenz stark.
Für Adelheid Morath geht es in Albstadt in erster Linie darum, neues Selbstvertrauen zu tanken. Nach zuletzt eher enttäuschenden Auftritten im Weltcup will Morath am Sonntag an ihre Leistung von Münsingen (8. Platz) anknüpfen. Nach einem Trainingssturz auf die Schulter in der Vorwoche kommt ein Start in Albstadt für die Französin Sabrina Enaux nicht in Frage.

Scheiber hoch motiviert
Auch im Rennen der Herren darf man sich auf zahlreiche Topstars freuen. Neben Doppelolympiasieger Julien Absalon (FRA), der seine Extraklasse zuletzt beim Weltcup in Offenburg bewiesen hat, Vorjahressieger Florian Vogel (SUI), den Flückiger-Brüdern (SUI) und Ralph Naef (SUI) haben die Deutschen Wolfram Kurschat und Moritz Milatz für Albstadt gemeldet. Und auch der Österreicher Karl Markt zählt nach Platz zehn in Münsingen und seinem starken Auftritt in Offenburg zum erweiterten Favoritenkreis. Der österreichische U23-Meister Simon Scheiber (AUT) und sein deutsches Pendant Manfred Reis starten separat in der U23-Konkurrenz. Gerade auf den wieder genesenen Scheiber darf man gespannt sein.
Das europäische Gastspiel von Paul van der Ploeg (AUS) ist für diese Saison vorbei. Der Ozeanienmeister ist nach dem Offenburger Weltcup wieder in seine australische Heimat gereist.

Direkt im Anschluss an das Bundesligarennen von Albstadt reist das gesamte FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team ins Ötztal (AUT), wo intensive Trainingseinheiten und Sponsorentermine auf dem Programm stehen.

German League Albstadt - FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team with five athletes at the start

The crème de la crème of mountain biking will start on Sunday at the GONSO Albstadt MTB Classic on the Swabian Alb. This is the third round of this years German League, where the riders fight for world ranking points. Albstadt is one of only three HC races, the highest category after the UCI World Cup. Five athletes of the FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team take part in the race at Albstadt and try to reach top results.

Klemencic wants her first victory
The highest hopes of the team rest on Blaza Klemencic (SLO). With her second place in Münsingen, rank seven in Heubach and the strong performances in the recent World Cups, Klemencic has impressively demonstrated that she is ready for the first victory of the season. "I feel very good. If I am able to divide my energies everything is possible", says the 30-year-old Slovenian optimistic. But with Olympic gold medalist Sabine Spitz (GER), pverall World Cup winner Lisi Osl (AUT) and the newly minted champion of Trans Germany Elisabeth Brandau (GER) the competition is very strong.
Adelheid Morath will primarily try to use the race in Albstadt for encouraging her self-confidence. After the disappointing performances in the last World Cups, Morath wants to repeat her performance of Münsingen (8th place). After a training crash on her shoulder in the previous week, Frenchwoman Sabrina Enaux won`t be able to start at Albstadt.

Scheiber highly motivated
Also in the men`s race many top stars will fight for the title at Albstadt. In addition to double Olympic champion and winner of Offenburg Julien Absalon (FRA), last year's champion Florian Vogel (SUI), the Flückiger (SUI) brothers and Ralph Naef (SUI) have as well announced their start as the Germans Wolfram Kurschat and Moritz Milatz. Austrian Karl Markt has already shown his strength this season with his 10th place of Münsingen and his strong performance at Offenburg. The Austrian U23 champion Simon Scheiber (AUT) and his German counterpart Manfred Reis will start in the U23 race at Albstadt. It will be interesting how Scheiber is in shape after his injury.  
The European guest performance of Paul van der Ploeg (AUS) is over for this season. The Oceanic Champion has traveled back  to his Australian home after the World Cup at Offenburg.

After the race at Albstadt, the entire FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team will travel directly to Austrian Ötztal for intensive training sessions and sponsor meetings.
