Lining Up - Karl Markt joins the FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team

Following the signing of the Austrian U23 champion Simon Scheiber and his German counterpart Manfred Reis the third rider to join the FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team is the Austrian Karl “Charly” Markt. With his 29 years Charly is the “senior” in the team. The two-time Austrian Marathon champion grew up in Zams Austria. Now he is living in Haiming at the entrance of the Ötztal, where he often trains with Scheiber.
His greatest achievements in Cross Country besides the national vice championship 2009 are numerous top 20 World Cup results. The business studies student transferred from the SRM Stevens team to the FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team. Here, Charly wants to establish himself with the help of a professional environment and top equipment in the world elite: "I want to become Austrian Champion in Cross Country and land consistently in the top 20 in World Cup. But my biggest goal is London 2012."
When Charly is not sitting on his bike, he uses his hobbies running, skiing and roller blading for training purposes. The sympathetic Austrian likes to relax by reading, watching TV or sitting at the computer.
The Sports Chef of the FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC Worldcup Team Jörg Scheiderbauer is confident: "Karl was looking for a new challenge. If he trains hard and uses the internal competition situation positively, he can improve his performance significantly. He is also very important for the younger riders on the team."
At a recent PR event in the context of the Ötztal Fight Night Charly entered foreign territory. Together with the two professional Hungarian boxers Karoly Balzsay (coached by Fritz Sdunek) and Zsolt Bedak from Universum Box-Promotion Charly climbed into the boxing ring for a photo session.
