An Event to remember

With our mountain bike events now a memory we are now planning for the next event, the Hansgrohe Triathlon in Offenburg. We have now been running the Mtb events for 7 years, how time flys. The worldclass mtb challenge was again a success with 2000 competitors and the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup with over 20.000 spectators. Having won the award for the best mountain bike event of the year in 2008 and 2009 we are going for the hattrick. I must admit this event was by far the best out of the 4 World Cups that we have organised. The weather was amazing, huge crowds and a smooth run event. Backing up with the two events in two weeks was pretty tough, it helps when you are mentally and physically fit to stay focused. There are definately similarities to racing an Ironman and running a huge event. The day after the Event after all the cleaning up has taken place I do feel like I have raced an Ironman. The only difference is I can recover from organising an event much faster than from an Ironman which takes 4-6 weeks. After our events I am fresh and ready for training and the challenge of racing again. It is the varity in my job that I love.

 

Racing

After a few weeks of minimal training due to event stress we have now been back swimming, riding and running for 1,5 weeks. We did enjoy a few mtb races in May, the Riva Bike Festival in Italy and a mtb marathon in Münsingen. It has been a while since we last raced the bikes. We both finished 4th in Münsingen and Jörg finished 2nd in Riva. I had chain problems and ended up 6th. We will race this weekend a triathlon in Worms, just 1,5 hrs from Offenburg. It is a format which will suit us; 1km swim, 100 km bike and 10 km run. It´s going to be warm on sunday, perfect triathlon weather. Really looking forward to getting out there. Next weekend we are with our team at the Willingen Bike Festival and will race the mtb marathon.

Of course our big goal is Frankfurt Ironman, the second Ironman for this year. Although we have not been able to train as much as we would have liked, I am sure it will be a great event. We had a perfect preparation for Ironman China and the body has a great memory!

 

Team

Our team FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC has had some great success, with a 2nd place in Münsingen Bundesliga and top 20 at the World Cups. Blaza landed an 11th place here in Offenburg which was a great result. The season is still long and we are expecting some great results.

Otherwise all is good, we are both healthy and looking forward to the next challenges that await us.
